When we talk about a “product sales order management dashboard“, we mean a dashboard template which can successfully show all the product sales data along with the order management data which includes things like; number of orders, completed, shipped, pending orders etc.

A sale’s dashboard is an easy to understand, graphical representation of a company’s sale stats. If they are up to date frequently enough, they give managers the power to make well informed estimates and decisions. There are several softwares on the market which you can use but the easiest and most cost effective thing to do is use Microsoft excel.

Sales Dashboard Templates and Examples:

Before you start working on your dashboard, you will need to analyze why you need the dashboard. By that I mean you need to ask yourself:

  • What KPIs, values, or variables do I need to watch closely?
  • Who else will use the dashboard?
  • How often should it be updated?
  • Where should the data come from?

Once you answered all those questions, you can get started. To make your very own project sales order management dashboard, follow these steps:

Sales Dashboard Format:

Step 1:

Create a new excel file that has two or three sheets or tabs in it. The first sheet will be your main dashboard and the second one will be your raw data sheet. The raw data sheet is a sheet which will contain all the numerical bulk so that your dashboard sheet looks neat and organized.

Step 2:

You need to fill your raw data sheet with all the data you need to monitor. You can copy paste the existing data and create the sheet in such a way that new data can be entered easily. As the best dashboards are the most frequently updated, try to make the raw data sheet universally understandable so anyone may update it.

Step 3:

Analyze the raw data and understand what is the most effective way to highlight the necessary information. This is a good time to decide what kind of tools you will use in your dashboard. Excel provides a good range of charts, graphs and such. So, take your time to decide what you want to your dashboard.

Step 4:

Go to the dashboard sheet, in the insert tab and select the charts you want to add. At first they will be blank but that’s okay as we will connect them with the raw data on the other sheet.

Step 5:

Right click the desired chart or graph and click, “select data”. Hence a window will open up which has two main things:

  • legend entries (series)
  • horizontal (category) axis labels.

In the legend entries section, click add. A small window will pop up which has two things; series name and series values. So go to the raw data sheet and in series name select the name of the column whose data you wish to add and in series value select all the values of the corresponding column. Repeat this for all the columns you wish to add to the chart or graph.

You will also notice that the data labels are incorrect. That is what the horizontal (category) axis labels is for. In that section of the select data window, click edit. Then select the data labels you want from your raw data sheet.

Step 6:

Look at all your charts closely and arrange them in the most efficient manner, customize the colors of your charts and the background to make the important things pop out and focus on the aesthetics of your dashboard.
